Perfectionism is a pattern of thinking and behavior in which an individual sets extremely high standards for themselves and others, and becomes excessively focused on achieving these standards. While a certain level of perfectionism can be healthy and motivate individuals to achieve their goals, excessive perfectionism can become a source of significant distress and interfere with daily functioning. People who struggle with perfectionism may experience a range of challenges, including:
• Difficulty making decisions
• Feeling like you are never enough
• Fear of being judged, rejected, or misunderstood
• Difficulty expressing anger or disappointment to others
• Difficulty with vulnerability
• Feeling overly responsible
• Difficulty asking for help
• Self critical when you make mistakes
• A tendency to procrastinate or avoid tasks due to the fear of not being able to meet high standards
• Difficulty enjoying activities or achievements due to a focus on flaws or imperfections
