Therapy for Teens & Children

At Knew You Psychotherapy, we understand the unique challenges that teens and children face. With two dedicated therapists specializing in working with young people, we provide a safe and supportive space for them to explore their emotions, develop coping strategies, and build resilience. Whether it's navigating school stress, family dynamics, anxiety, or trauma, our goal is to empower the next generation to thrive emotionally and mentally.

Many teens and children face a range of challenges that can impact their physical, emotional, and psychological well-being. Family dynamics, conflict, discrimination, and troubles fitting in can all have negative effects on children's development and overall quality of life. Many children face social and emotional challenges such as bullying, peer pressure, and stress. These challenges can lead to difficulties with self-esteem, mental health, and social relationships. However, with the right support and resources, children can overcome these challenges and develop the resilience and skills they need to thrive.

Some of the challenges that children who struggle with behavioral issues, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and confidence may face:

  • Difficulty regulating emotions
  • Struggles with communication and social interactions
  • Low self-esteem and negative self-image
  • Lack of motivation and interest in activities
  • Difficulty concentrating and paying attention
  • Sleep problems and fatigue
  • Feelings of sadness, hopelessness, or worthlessness
  • Fear or avoidance of specific situations or activities
  • Behavioral problems such as aggression or defiance
  • Physical symptoms such as headaches or stomachaches

How does therapy work at Knew You Psychotherapy?

At Knew You Psychotherapy, therapy begins with a free 15-20 minute consultation call with one of our Intake Coordinators. During the consultation, you and the intake coordinator will have a chance to further discuss what is bringing you to therapy, your therapeutic goals, your therapeutic history, and answer any questions you may have. The intake coordinator will also help determine the therapist that is the best match for you and schedule your first appointment.

Therapeutic Approach

At Knew You Psychotherapy, we implement a collaborative approach. We believe in the importance of building a therapeutic alliance and a safe space for children to feel safe and confident to open up to explore their thoughts and feelings. Our goal is to support not only the child but also the parent navigate the challenges being faced in order to find balance again.

At Knew You Psychotherapy, we use a holistic, trauma-informed approach, integrating methods like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Play Therapy, and mindfulness techniques to meet each child's unique needs. Our therapists work closely with parents, schools, and other support systems to ensure a comprehensive and collaborative treatment plan.

Individual Therapy for Teens

Teens today face increasing pressures from school, social media, and their peers. Our therapists offer a space where teens can openly express themselves, work through anxiety, depression, stress, or trauma, and build self-esteem. We help them develop the tools they need to navigate adolescence and prepare for adulthood.

Individual Therapy for Children

Children often express their emotions through play. Our play therapy sessions allow children to process their feelings in a way that feels natural to them. By using therapeutic play, we help children explore their emotions, develop problem-solving skills, and gain emotional regulation in a gentle, supportive environment.

Family Therapy

We understand that family dynamics can deeply influence a child's emotional health. Our family therapy sessions provide an opportunity for families to address communication challenges, conflicts, or behavioral concerns together. We create a space for healing and understanding, ensuring that the entire family is part of the journey toward well-being.
