Anxiety is a normal and natural response to stress or potential danger. However, when anxiety becomes excessive or difficult to manage, it can become a significant source of distress and interfere with daily functioning. People who struggle with anxiety may experience a range of physical, emotional, and behavioral symptoms, including:
• Overthinking
• Over-planning
• Avoidance of places/people that trigger your anxiety
• Isolated
• Physical symptoms (sweating, trembling. heart racing, etc)
• Racing thoughts and worry
• Difficulty concentrating or making decisions
• Restlessness or feeling on edge
• Difficulty sleeping
One common symptom of anxiety is overthinking. You may find yourself dwelling on negative thoughts or replaying past events, leading to a sense of overwhelm or feeling stuck. Over-planning is another symptom that may arise, as you try to control your environment to reduce the possibility of triggering anxiety. You may also experience avoidance, choosing to stay away from people or places that you believe may trigger your anxiety. This can lead to isolation and a sense of disconnection from the world around you.
Physical symptoms such as sweating, trembling, heart racing, and difficulty breathing are also common with anxiety. Racing thoughts and worry can make it challenging to concentrate or make decisions, leading to a sense of restlessness or feeling on edge. Difficulty sleeping is another symptom, as anxiety can make it challenging to turn off your mind and relax.
